Aim & Scopes
Aims and Scope
Academic focus and interdisciplinary research areas of JSTS – Journal of Subsea Technology and Society
JSTS – Journal of Subsea Technology and Society is an international peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing research, innovation, and critical discussion in subsea engineering, underwater technology, offshore systems, ocean infrastructure, and their interaction with society and the marine environment. The journal provides an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, engineers, industry professionals, policymakers, and practitioners to disseminate scientific knowledge and technological developments related to the design, analysis, operation, monitoring, integrity, and sustainable development of subsea and offshore systems.
JSTS particularly encourages research that integrates engineering innovation with practical offshore and underwater applications. The journal welcomes studies addressing subsea production systems, underwater robotics, pipelines and risers, structural integrity, digital monitoring, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, risk and reliability, marine renewable energy, environmental sustainability, decommissioning, safety, human factors, and societal impacts. The journal seeks to bridge academic research, technological development, industrial implementation, environmental responsibility, and societal needs in the rapidly evolving subsea sector.
Scope of the Journal
JSTS welcomes theoretical, experimental, numerical, computational, empirical, conceptual, case-study, review, and applied research addressing subsea technology and its interaction with offshore engineering, marine environments, industry, and society. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
Interdisciplinary Focus
JSTS encourages interdisciplinary contributions that connect engineering, ocean science, digital technology, environmental sustainability, economics, safety, policy, and society. Manuscripts should demonstrate clear relevance to subsea, underwater, offshore, or ocean infrastructure applications.
