About the Journal

Journal of Subsea Technology and Society is an international peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal dedicated to the advancement of subsea engineering, underwater technologies, subsea infrastructure, integrity and inspection systems, digital and autonomous technologies, and their interaction with safety, sustainability, industry, communities, and society.

The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, experimental studies, computational investigations, technological developments, field applications, and interdisciplinary studies across four principal areas: Subsea Systems and Underwater Infrastructure; Integrity, Reliability, Inspection and Subsea Operations; Digital, Robotic and Autonomous Subsea Technologies; and Subsea Technology, Sustainability and Society.

The journal particularly welcomes research addressing subsea production systems, pipelines, flowlines, risers, umbilicals, subsea cables, underwater structures, integrity management, corrosion, fatigue, reliability, inspection, intervention, ROVs, AUVs, underwater robotics, sensors, acoustic systems, digital twins, artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance, autonomous inspection, offshore renewable-energy infrastructure, environmental performance, safety, risk governance, technology acceptance, workforce competence, and the socio-economic implications of subsea technology.

Interdisciplinary contributions from ocean engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, materials science, marine technology, robotics, artificial intelligence, oceanography, environmental engineering, safety and risk engineering, energy systems, economics, management, policy, and social sciences are welcome when they demonstrate a clear connection to subsea systems, underwater infrastructure, subsea operations, integrity, inspection, intervention, or the societal dimensions of subsea technology.
